This manual describes all features of the ema software and acts as an aid in using the software. We also conduct ema trainings regularly. For more information pertaining to ema trainings, please visit www.imk-ema.com.

ema (Editor for Manual Work Activities) is an independent software for planning, simulation and visualisation of workflow. It allows the graphical modelling of manual activities on the basis of a performance library as well as the evaluation of the standard time and ergonomics based on the EAWS standard.

The objective of ema is to provide a platform for creating simulations of human work in an intuitive and efficient manner. For that purpose, ema has a library of so-called “tasks”. These tasks are used to create a parameterised activity description by specifying only the conditions (for e. g., objects to be handled, target positions, etc.). This activity description is subsequently evaluated by a simulation module; this checks for plausibility and if plausible, simulated geometrically. Besides generating postures and motions pertaining to human work, various parameters for standard time and ergonomics analysis are also computed. A GUI is developed for the visualization of the simulations. Additionally, reports both textual and pictorial can be generated and exported in different file formats.

iema is available in different versions, each with different functional ranges (licence-controlled). The present manual describes the functions and characteristics of all ema versions. Thus, it might be possible that the current ema version you are using may not contain some of the functions and characteristics mentioned in this manual.

iA semi transparent watermark appears, if the simulation project has been saved with a emaDEMO or emaEDUCATION license (see figure Transparent watermark DEMO or EDUCATION license).
